Bar Louis at Hotel Fauchere has an entire menu dedicated to amaro.

Not a shelf with four bottles and a handwritten card. A menu. Organized by style, region, and flavor profile. Bitter. Herbal. Alpine. Citrus. The bartenders know every one of them and they will tell you where to start based on what you just ate and what you feel like drinking.

Amaro is one of the most interesting categories in the drinks world right now. It has been for a decade, quietly, among the people who pay close attention. The New York food and drink press covers it seriously. Sommeliers order it instead of dessert. Bartenders collect bottles the way wine people collect vintages.

Bar Louis has built a program around it. In a 172-year-old building in Milford, Pennsylvania. 90 minutes from the city.

This is what Memorial Day weekend looks like at Bar Louis.
Here it is:

The Tomahawk for two lands this weekend at Bar Louis. Ramp butter. Creamed spinach. 48 ounces of the thing you did not know you needed 90 minutes from the city.

Or experience the whole roasted fennel-citrus Bronzino, finished with herb-citrus oil.

Sunday, stay longer. Late checkout until 5 pm for $50. Worth every dollar.
