How many places are lucky enough to be just down the road from a working creamery serving homemade ice cream right on the farm? Well… we are! 😍

Looking Glass Creamery, is just a short drive from Wheat Creek, and right now they’re serving fresh Blueberry Basil ice cream. 🍨🫐🌿 Gotta love summer in the mountains.

And don’t leave without picking up some of their incredible artisan cheeses. 🧀 It’s one of our favorite local stops and an absolute must visit during your stay.

🏕️ WCO Field Guide: Lake Lure is Back! 🚤☀️

Lake Lure is officially back this summer and it’s more beautiful than ever! Just 25 minutes from Wheat Creek Outpost, it’s the perfect day trip if you’re looking to get out on the water.

We rented a pontoon from Lake Lure Adventure Company and had an absolute blast! The boat was spotless, the staff was incredibly friendly, and it made for one of our favorite summer days.

After your time on the lake, grab a bite at one of our favorite local spots:

🌿 Grey Hawk Bar & Gardens

Both are fantastic and well worth the stop.

🎬 Fun Fact: Did you know parts of Dirty Dancing were filmed at Lake Lure? While you’re cruising the lake, you can spot several filming locations from the iconic movie!
