Thank you to Hotels Above Par for the incredible feature!

"Three and a half hours from Washington, D.C., though the winding, pastoral drive makes it feel like less, you’ll find a perfect little family retreat called Fort Lewis Lodge & Farm. It sits on a 3,300-acre mountain farm in Bath County, Virginia, with the Cowpasture River running straight through it, and feels like it’s been pulled straight from the pages of a Mark Twain novel. Family-owned and operated for more than 65 years, and open only April through October, this is the rare place where "unplugged" isn't a marketing buzzword but an actual operating condition. Think of it as summer camp for adults who equally prioritize a good meal with access to the great outdoors. "

Set on 3,300 acres in Virginia’s Bath County, Fort Lewis Lodge & Farm is a rustic Appalachian retreat with riverside cabins, farm-to-table meals, outdoor adventures, and a true off-grid feel.

So many signs of spring around the farm— our two baby piglets have arrived and are settling nicely into their new home. We’ve yet to name them, any ideas (they are a boy and a girl)? And much to our delight, a mama robin decided to build her nest right outside the Mill. What a pleasure it’s been watching her collecting materials and carefully constructing her nest. Now she’s finally nestled in to protect her four perfectly blue eggs. Soon we’ll get to see them hatch. Perhaps we should name her babies too?

Join us for a special evening under the stars on Friday, May 8 with author and amateur astronomer Rock Ward. Following dinner, guests are invited to gather for a complimentary stargazing experience in our strikingly dark mountain skies. Through a high-end telescope, we’ll enjoy remarkable views of Jupiter’s moons, star clusters, nebulae, double stars, and distant galaxies. Along the way, our host will offer guidance to help bring the night sky to life and will share a short reading from his book, ‘Touched by the Infinite Mystery’. 🔭 💫 Photo by
