Are you a member of the Natural Resources Council of Maine? If so, did you know that Big Eddy works in partnership with the organization to offer their members a discount on their stay here?

NRCM is Maine's leading organization protecting Maine's environment and natural resources. Their history of success dates back to 1966 with their involvement of protecting the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, and in 1986, they were part of defeating the Big A Dam project (which would have flooded where Big Eddy Campground stands today!).

First, we want to thank you for being patient as we work through building and preparing our new reservation system. We’re happy to share that the new system is ready to go and we will start accepting reservations at 8:00 am on Wednesday, December 10th. Tomorrow!

Second, there’s some important changes to take note of that are new for 2026:
***If you are booking the Eddy or Crib Cabin, you will notice we placed a 2-person minimum on the two cabins. Booking these two cabins for 1 person is no longer an option. If you are a party of 1, you’ll need to select 2 people and pay that price.

***Your card will be charged at the time you click Confirm. Previously, we have had to manually charge every reservation (😅). We will not double-check reservations before they are charged for. If you are unsure of your number of guests, we encourage you to book for the minimum number. Additional guests can be paid for at check-in.

***POC 1 and 2 have NEW names. POC 1 is now Stonefly Cabin and POC 2 is Mayfly Cabin.

Some of the cabins are getting updates next year. New windows, porch, siding - yay! They will be blocked out for about a week at a time.

Tomorrow morning at 8:00am, navigate to our website, just like usual. From there, click on Reservations and you’ll be directed to our new Bonfire reservation page.

We closed for the winter this past Monday; it’s always bittersweet.
One of the parts we love about closing down the campground is watching the wildlife retake the area. The chipmunks go crazy, hunting and gathering. The fish rise to the surface, no fisherman in sight. The robins take over the front lawn, no one around to scurry them away.
Cheers to another wonderful Big Eddy summer. Thank you all for making it so special for us.
