Unpopular opinion: decor that’s not “matchy matchy” is more fun!

My number one decor tip I’ve learned over the last nine years is to style your space with coordinating items, but don’t be matchy matchy.

Case in point, my Annie villa is full of joyful interest and intrigue! I mixed a variety of patterns as well as textures. In addition, I brought in both new and thrift items. Can you tell which is which? And this space came together, amazingly well. You can’t help but walk in and smile! The decor in this villa is an unexpected eclectic mix and it’s just so fun and inviting!

They said small towns were dying. We had other plans. ✨

There’s something pretty special happening in Minden, Louisiana right now. Type MINDEN below and I’ll send you a post where you can read more. 💗

It’s happening because of the dreamers who see possibility where others see empty buildings. The risk takers who sign the papers, pick up the paintbrush, open the doors and pray people walk through them. The small business owners, investors, creatives and community members who believe our little town is worth betting on.

I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve gotten to play a small part in that story, bringing a few forgotten spaces back to life and watching them become places where people shop, stay, gather and make memories.

But the best part? I’m only one of MANY.

There are people all over Minden dreaming big, taking chances and doing the hard work of creating something beautiful here.

Here are 5 things we do to every villa that sets the tone for the rest of our guests visits:

🫧 We have our own custom lavender oil that we diffuse throughout the air. So immediately when guests walk in it feels like a spa-like experience

🎶 To engage guests’ sense of hearing, we leave our TVs on soft, peaceful seasonal music to welcome them as they walk into their rooms

✨ We never, ever, ever turn on the big overhead lights. We always leave the lamps on for a warm, cozy glow

🌸 To engage our guests' sense of touch, we have luxury cozy bedding as well as plush towels and robes in our bathrooms.

☕️ And lastly, we have custom roasted coffee made special for our villas. Our guests RAVE about this!!!

It really is easy to create a dreamy, outdoor space like the patios at .

Look through these to see where this space started!

The hard part was clearing the land and building the patios with .

The easy part was styling the space. First we hung string lights across the entire length of the back patios. They instantly add warmth and cozy.

Then we stocked each patio with a (love them), Adirondack chairs, pots and plants, and supplies for s’mores. We plant pampas grass that will grow in between each patio for added privacy. Each villa has its own outdoor space so guests can enjoy this cozy atmosphere.

Isn’t it amazing what a little love and color can add to a space? Meet Laura.

This villa was in such bad condition. Well, weren’t they all really?! lol. But when it all started coming together, I knew this one would be special.

It’s named after Laura Ashley and people always come to tell me how much they love this villa. I truly think it’s because of the timeless, calm decor that revives our nostalgia towards a time when life was much more simple. When I designed Laura, I could slowly see this space coming together in a very special way. When you walk in, you are immediately whisked back to bygone days! 🩵💛
