The Bryan House is an opportunity for our community and those visiting, to take a trip back in time. Many are surprised to learn that William Jennings Bryan had a winter residence here in Mission, Texas. We would like to share the history of Bryan's time here and early Mission by creating an upscale place to stay overnight for those looking for a romantic getaway, business travelers, tourists, and relatives paying a visit to the area.

“Odettes Secret Closet” will be hosting a unique style trunk show with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Vintage loving gals will appreciate garments from different era’s. Antique and more modern pieces for decor, tableware and more will be available for purchase. The pieces showcased are from local families and tell a story - the Bryan House will be the perfect setting 💐.

So if you don’t already know, Jessica Monroe, let me make an introduction. On Saturday, May 2 we will have an event that celebrates art and nature. Jessica‘s art which is full of whimsy beauty & movement will have her art on display 10 am to 2 pm. We are incredibly grateful to host such a highly, talented artist & sincerly hope the you patrons will take this opportunity to heart. -

We will also have Native plants for sale with a very talented rare plant collector & landscaper Eric Luebanos.

A very special speaker from Texas Parks Wildlife, Ernesto Garcia-Perez at 1 PM to discuss TPWD programs that help TX landowners implement native landscaping. If you are a gardener, this should be lots of fun.

And last, but not least Wild Birds Unlimited will be present to share what they have to offer with all of their bird houses, feeders, and what they offer and Local Birding tours. If you haven’t been to their store in Mcallen, I highly recommend doing so. Call 956-330-7497 for more information.

Many thanks to the Museum of South Texas History Trustees and Leadership for taking a historical tour of the 1909 farmhouse built by William Jennings Bryan. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share the house’s history with our community- on this special occasion, with other historians. is a local treasure that highlights the burgeoning development of the RGV in the early 1900’s with the advent of our train system, the rich culture of the RGV, and the similarities of the world & national political stage of the early 1900’s to today.
