Mountain Creek Eclipse 2017 – My recon trip.

I have been a motor home enthusiast since 1983. Bought my first in 1988 and currently have a 39’ 2013 Tiffin Allegro RED.
Bodie, was very gracious allowing me freedom to enter and roam without a guide. The valley/meadow that Bodie is opening to campers is simply – AWESOME. To the point:
Ingress/Egress. From what I witnessed it will be through a gravel road off highway 26 through Central, Oregon just outside of Mitchell, Oregon. I drove 2.5 miles onto the property. The meadow/valley is one hill south of the highway. It is secluded from the highway by the hill – very private and remote. Let me underestimate the size of the meadow/valley as HUGE! Easily I drove for 2.5 miles and did not see the end. All but 0.5 miles on flat terrain perfectly suited for this type event. Ingress/Egress will not be a problem for up to 45’ rigs or rig combinations. That is my opinion, I know that I will drive my 39’ Coach on all the 2.5 miles of gravel road that I traveled.
Facilities/Supplies. You must come prepared for each day that you plan to stay. No one knows or can estimate the traffic for this kind of event. Mitchell, the nearest supplies, is very small. One store that serves all needs. Drugstore, hardware store, grocery store – the true definition of General Store. However, it is small – the population it serves is small – except for this event. I talked with the staff, they are stocking now, but again no one knows. Bring all you can and bring extra if you can, but bring enough for you and yours please.
I am recommending Mountain Creek Eclipse Camping as the perfect location for enjoying this once in a lifetime event. The ranch and the meadow are inspiring alone, the event is like icing on a cake!
