Did you know that Dead Horse Point State Park offers interpretive programs throughout the week, including every Saturday?

Interpretive programs range in focus from geology to biology to astronomy. All are welcoming of all ages, and pet-friendly! Most programs meet at the front steps of the Visitor Center. During daylight, look for a Park Ranger in a Utah State Parks uniform 15 minutes before the start of the program, and at night, look for the glowing red lanterns!

Ask a ranger for more information when visiting the park, and look for signs on program information!

Tonight, we have a pair of full moon programs, Werewolf Walk at 7:00pm and Luna in the Lens at 9:00pm! Both will meet at the Visitor Center. Please be advised, cloudy conditions are expected to last into the evening. In the event of a telescope program cancellation, this post will be updated.

Spotted this poster around Moab? 👀💩

You might see “How to P**p in the Desert” in shops around town, at trailhead toilets, and across BLM, National Park Service, and state lands. That’s no accident! It’s part of the Moab Human Waste Initiative, a countywide campaign led by Steward Moab in partnership with local, state, and federal agencies. 🤝

The idea is simple: no matter where your Moab adventure takes you, the same clear message is there to help you p**p with a plan.

✅ Outhouses
✅ Portable toilets
✅ WAG bags

And it’s working! Since 2023, the initiative has diverted over 30 tons of human waste from Moab’s public lands, sparked more than 10,000 on-trail conversations, and brought 40 local businesses on board to help spread the word. 🎉

Next time you see the poster, give it a nod. You’re looking at a whole community working together to keep Moab’s trails and waterways clean. 🌵

🎉 Congratulations, EMT Drew Kalinyak!

Drew recently crossed the finish line of his GCEMS training, earning his navy blues and joining the regular rotation!

After completing the Grand County EMT Course last winter, Drew joined our team this summer. He brings a wealth of life experience and a love of Moab adventures to his new role serving the residents and visitors of Grand County.
