A little before & after that is still in progresss but is coming along nicely. This one is near & dear to our hearts because it is for our sweet daughter & her family. So happy to jave her back in the neighborhood & I know her children will love growing up here just as she did. More pics to follow.

A small portion of the McGregor Springs development abuts Sheips Lane off of McGregor Ave. Sheips Lane is named after Marie Stanley Sheip a Mobile native. Her parents were George & Josephine Layet. Marie Sheip was an author, artist, & theater enthusiast. Her home that she shared with her husband, Stanley Sheip, the son of a wealthy Mobile lumberman, was located in this area. Marie was also the cofounder of the Little Theater of Mobile for which she directed many plays. She was the author of the book Gulf Stream which was published in 1930, and the University of Alabama currently holds the publishing rights.

This is my tiny collection of antique McGregor Springs, MacGregor Springs, & Stein’s Spring Water bottles. These water bottles are the inspiration for the name of the new development currently underway at McGregor Ave & Spring Hill Ave. Our neighborhood was named Spring Hill because of the numerous natural springs that were in the area & McGregror Springs was one of them. I am unsure of the exact age of these bottles but I am guessing that they are over 100 years old.
