For years, they've been telling us how important it is to "unplug."
(Who are "they?" Oddly enough, it's usually experts whose advice we find via devices that plug in. 📱🖥️⌚)
Put down your phones, they scold. Get outside. Connect with nature. Be present.
But what they haven't been telling us is what to do after we unplug.
Think about it: we spend a lot of time on our phones. Whether it's working, talking to friends, scrolling social media (like you're doing right now), we stay "plugged in" for the same reason we do everything: because we're trying to be happy. And let's face it, there's a lot of stuff online that can make us feel happy. From funny cat memes to jaw-dropping dance videos, from inspiring quotations to serene nature scenes like this one right here. ⬆️
What's more, we're *familiar* with how to find happiness through our devices. We know where to go and what to do, in order to feel that juicy little jolt of happiness that internet connectivity famously/infamously delivers so well.
With all of this being said, we are big advocates for the "unplug" gospel. 🔌👍 And we've designed the Fresh Coast Cabin experience to offer plenty of options for taking the place of the time you might otherwise spend on your phone.
Options like:
Curling up with a good book in a comfy chair.
Hunting for agates along the lakeshore.
Catching a cat nap on the porch swing. 😴
Scouting the woods for flora and fauna with a local guidebook in hand.
Popping a classic cassette into the tape player for an impromptu dance party. 📼🎶
Gathering wood for a fire and waiting for your fellow cabin lovers to congregate. (Which they always do.)
And, of course, exploring the hidden corners of this magical peninsula at the top of the world.
If you've been thinking about booking your Keweenaw vacation, but you're not sure what to do once you get here, there's an easy solution: ask your helpful hosts! There's nothing we love more than helping our guests create the perfect "unplugged" experience for them.
