Dear Island Inn friends,

From the time that we first stepped foot in a frozen Island Inn in February, 2014 we knew that we wanted to be part of its storied history. It’s been our honor and pleasure to welcome back old and new friends who hold Monhegan and the Inn close to their hearts. It’s been especially gratifying when they introduce their next generation to the magic of the Island, including those incredible front porch sunsets.

After 11 wonderfully full seasons, we’ve decided that it’s time for us to enjoy the Island in retirement mode. We were so lucky to have found another couple, Scottie and Dedra Kaylor, who are thrilled to become the Inn’s next stewards. They bring extensive restaurant and hospitality experience and are passionate about creating lasting friendships and a caring staff culture.

We want to thank everyone on the Island who welcomed us and made it possible to become part of the fabric of the community. Monhegan is our home. We could not have made the Inn a second home for our thousands of guests without the amazing array of staff members who have performed with such grace… regardless of Monhegan’s predictable unpredictability.

Thank you all so much for your support and friendship. Since we will still be living on the Island, please say hello as you return for years to come.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a quarter of a century since so many of us questioned that little bug they called Y2K! While so much has changed, we’re grateful that some of the best things remain the same…like a brilliant December sunset over Manana or reservations picking back up on January 2nd!
