What an honor to attend the ribbon cutting and reipenning of the beach at Thousand Hills State Park while representing the Missouri State Parks Foundation Board.

It was wonderful to see community leaders, supporters, park staff and advocates come together to celebrate this exciting addition that will create lasting memories for families and visitors for years to come. Missouri’s state parks are truly treasures, and it is inspiring to witness continued investments that help connect people with nature, recreation, and wellness.

At Double Hearts Ranch, we deeply value the healing and restorative power of the outdoors, so being part of this special event was especially meaningful.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this project possible! 🌿☀️🏖️

We were honored to spend time with the Paris, Missouri Rotary Club sharing the story and mission behind Double Hearts Ranch 💜🐴

From rescued horses and donkeys to equine-assisted learning experiences focused on connection, confidence, healing, and hope — it was a privilege to talk about the heart behind the Ranch and the impact these experiences are making in our rural communities.

We were also excited to share that Double Hearts Ranch was selected to participate in the 2026 Horses for Mental Health Campaign during Mental Health Awareness Month. This global campaign helps organizations like ours raise awareness and funds to expand access to equine-assisted mental health and wellness services.

SHENNIGAN'S ON THE RANCH

Ernie was absolutely convinced today that De Mayos needed to join in on his latest round of "donkey shenanigans". 😂🐴

The expressions in this picture say it all…
Ernie: “Oh No---Busted.” De Mayos: “Sir… You are on your own. Mom I didn't do anything, it was all Ern.”

One of the things we love most at Double Hearts Ranch is watching the personalities and relationships unfold naturally in the pasture. Ernie always seems to be plotting something, while De Mayos gives us those patient, long-suffering looks like he’s constantly questioning his life choices around the donkeys. 💕

Their different personalities, expressions, and interactions remind us so much of people — and it’s one of the reasons horses and donkeys connect so deeply with those who spend time here.

You never know what kind of comedy, connection, or life lesson you’ll witness at the ranch. 💜
