We feature a rustic lodge and guest cabins with remarkably comfortable beds, daily maid service, fresh cuisine, and the friendly, engaging hospitality for which Montana is renowned. Meals at Spotted Bear Ranch are truly exceptional, chef prepared and plentiful. Wilderness Expedition - All of our trips are a spectacular adventure! Our wilderness trip incorporates two days of horseback riding (with
fishing in the afternoons), a day of walk-wading, and three days of professionally guided float fishing. The Wilderness trip moves through 30 miles of the legendary Bob Marshall Wilderness, while the Lodge sits on the edge of that wilderness. We offer eight 6 day trips starting the first week of July and ending the last week of August. Lodge Trips - Lodge based packages are typically 3 and 5 day trips, blending gorgeous float fishing with fantastic walk-wade opportunities. We fish for wild, native Westslope Cutthroat Trout and are one of the only rivers in the country where one can legally target the threatened Bull Trout. These behemoths can attain lengths of over 30+” and weigh over 10 pounds! (Bull trout season ends July 31st.) We feel each trip offers great value, as they are inclusive of all meals, beer and wine, lodging, daily maid service (lodge trips), and all guiding activities! If 8-9 hours of guided fly-fishing isn’t enough, you can walk the hundred yards to the river and catch a few more! Our intent is to tailor trips to the wants and needs of each party, so we’re happy to customize your days to suit you! Dining - Breakfast is made to order by our chef and includes meals such as huckleberry pancakes and omelets. Lunch is served on river by the guide and is generally a sandwich selection, wrap, or salad. Appetizers in our bar/trophy room include baked brie and smoked salmon. We serve complimentary beer and wine with appetizers and dinner. Guests are welcome to bring any/all of their favorite libations. Lodging - There are a total of six guest cabins, five of which have two bedrooms with two twin beds, and one bathroom. The sixth cabin has one bedroom and one bathroom. The cabins are rustic and comfortable, with great mattresses, down comforters and pillows. Each has a common room, a front porch and is equipped with heat and a small refrigerator. Transportation - Many guests choose to rent a vehicle or one can arrange for shuttle service from the Kalispell airport/Whitefish to the Ranch. Driving time is 2-2 1/2 hours from the airport or Whitefish. There is also a flight charter service available that lands on a well-maintained grass airstrip five minutes from the Ranch. Fishing - We predominantly fly fish because it is far more productive even for a novice angler. Our professional Orvis-endorsed guides are willing instructors. It is all spectacularly gorgeous river fishing for native wild trout. We have a blend of walk/wade fishing opportunities and float fishing from 14’ self-bailing rafts equipped with seats for the anglers. I hope this offers a bit more insight. We also have a website with some updated photos, so you could get a better idea of the beautiful country around Spotted Bear Ranch! www.spottedbear.com
