The Smoke House restaurant & lodging business is a Tennessee landmark, dating back to 1960, and over 20 million visitors. In 2021, a fire destroyed the original restaurant, but with the help of many friends in the community, and especially many Music artist friends, the equally unique & fun Smoke House Patio Grill opened for business only five weeks after the fire.
Every weekend, The Smoke House Patio Grill features some of the best live music you’ll hear anywhere in the South, including some of the most talented singers and songwriters from Nashville; no cover charge. With a unique quirky atmosphere featuring an indoor seating with fireplace and outdoor seating with campfire, great hot food menu, a wide selection of ice cold beers, seltzers, and coolers; the Smoke House is a great place to spend an enjoyable weekend evening. An example of some of the current menu features offered at the grill include fried okra, fried and pepper brussels sprouts, onion rings, fried pickles, salads, grilled and fried chicken, smoked sausage, pulled barbecue pork, grilled pork chops, chopped steak, a selection of burgers and sandwiches, green beans, coleslaw, corn, and several other tasty offerings. The Smokehouse still makes fresh pork skins every week as well as those world famous fried pies in six different flavors. The hours of operation for the GRILL are Friday and Saturday open 10:30 AM until 9 PM and Sunday open 10:30 AM until 5 PM.
In addition to the restaurant, the Smokehouse is a favorite spot for a couple and family getaways, offering mountain lodge rooms and rustic vacation cabins. The most popular accommodation are the 20 vacation cabins which are built of local log and timber frame construction. The cabins feature private jetted garden tubs, Real wood fireplaces, outdoor campfire sites, and full kitchens. The cabins are available in one-two & three bedroom, and a group cabin which can sleep up to 15 people comfortably.
The Smokehouse is right in the middle of the South Cumberland Mountains of Adventure; 3 Tennessee State Parks (Fiery Gizzard, Savage Gulf, Head of the Crow) featuring numerous waterfalls, swimming, caving, camping, hiking trails, zip line, rock climbing, biking, off-road vehicle park with trails, and mountain vistas. Also, the Smokehouse is only 10 minutes from The Caverns, one of the few music venues in the world that is performed in an underground cave. The Caverns is a world renowned destination for live music and a beautiful natural setting above and below ground.
