Upon arriving at Silverback, we took a photo with Titus
out front - which is a must! Then we headed inside
and were greeted by Christine! Our time with her was
fun and memorable! The set up is warm and welcoming
and the vibe is just what you’re looking for during a
day out! We can’t wait for you to stop in and enjoy
spending some time with them like we did! 🥰

Silverback Distillery began in 2014 when Christine and
Denver Riggleman opened their family-run distillery
along Route 151 in Nelson County. Inspired by a family
trip to Scotland, Christine developed an interest in
distilling, and the couple eventually brought their
dream to life in the Blue Ridge. The name “Silverback”
comes from a nickname Denver’s daughters gave him.
Today, Silverback is known for its small-batch spirits,
including bourbon, rye wh***ey, gin, and honey liqueur,
crafted with local ingredients and Blue Ridge
mountain water. Nestled along the Rockfish River,
Silverback has become a welcoming stop along Nelson
County’s Route 151 craft beverage trail. 😘

Our day out was on a Thursday and while we weren’t able to tour around the tasting room, we stopped at Bryant’s for a moment or two! The outdoor area was rustic and charming and we look forward to when we can come for a visit during their open hours. 🥰

Bryant’s C***r & Brewery is located on historic Edgewood Farm in Nelson County, where apples have been grown since the 1860s. After Hurricane Camille devastated the area in 1969, the orchards were eventually restored. In 2018, the family began producing handcrafted c***r from apples grown on the farm. Today, Bryant’s offers c***r, craft b**r, and a taste of Nelson County’s rich farming heritage. 🌳

This is one place that is close to Stephanie’s heart. It was a wonderful time stopping in at Hill Top. We met Tabitha and the owners, Kim and Greg Pugh, and of course we cannot forget Suzy! All were so welcoming, kind, and made us feel right at home! We got the tour and it was so nice. The peace on their hilltop is something to treasure and the animals on property just make it better!

Hill Top Winery & Meadery began in 1993 as a small pick-your-own berry farm in the Rockfish River Valley. In 1998, founders Marlyn and Sue Allen Pugh transformed the family berry operation into a w**ery, making Hill Top the 51st w**ery to open in Virginia. Today, second-generation owners Kimberly and Gregory Pugh continue the family tradition, producing small-batch “True to the Fruit” w**es made from berries and other fruits grown on the farm, along with authentic honey meads inspired by ancient cultures around the world. Hill Top is also recognized as Virginia’s oldest meadery. The farm remains a welcoming destination where visitors can enjoy w**e and mead tastings, seasonal berries, and friendly farm animals. 🐓 🐐 🫏

It’s October!! 🍎 🍁 So much is going on and we are here for it! We’re gearing up for a busy month. It’s only two weeks left until our Trunk or Treat and can anyone believe camping season is almost over?? 😭

Next Stop: 🐮 Beltie’s ☕️ 2884 Rockfish Valley Hwy, Nellysford, VA 22958

Farmhouse café. Drive thru in a barn. With adorable cows and chickens that roam. Yes, please! Beltie’s is definitely a must if you’re visiting Nelson. Matt came over and took us over to meet Scott and John. All three were so friendly and welcoming! Christy ordered the fall special Pistachio Matcha and Stephie ordered a Vanilla Latte. While we didn’t taste the biscuits or pastries on this trip, we’re hoping to go back soon! 🥰

Beltie’s celebrates the rural character and agricultural heritage of Nelson County. Founded by John Washburn, a lifelong Nelson County resident and founder of Bold Rock C***r, and Scott DeFusco, Beltie’s was created as a place where people could enjoy good food, coffee, and a little bit of farm life. The café was designed in the style of the original 1910 farmhouse that once stood on the property, incorporating elements of the old homestead into the new building. The name comes from their miniature Belted Galloway cattle, affectionately known as “Belties,” which graze in the pasture out back. Today, visitors can enjoy scratch-made 18-layer biscuits, handcrafted coffee, and the peaceful farm setting that captures a little piece of Nelson County’s country charm.

The beautiful café, the picturesque farm, the staff are top tier with their hospitality and kindness, and the coffee is delicious. These are just a few reasons why Beltie’s needs to be your next stop in Nellysford!

Fallin’ for Nelson 21+ Scavenger Hunt begins tomorrow, and it is open to everyone! 🎃 🍂

The rules are simple:

1. Come to the Montebello Country Store (15072 Crabtree Falls Hwy, Montebello, VA 24464) and ask for a Fallin’ for Nelson packet.
2. Start your journey with a photo at the store! 😊
3. Open your packet and begin!
4. Tag us and the businesses in your photos and use the hashtag
5. Have Fun! 🤩

Our scavenger hunt is for a fun way to get to know Nelson County and experience what our local businesses have to offer! Several of the participating businesses have added little treats along the way! All details will be inside the packet!

** The first to complete the Scavenger Hunt will receive a gift basket with lots of goodies!

Trout Pond Update:
Folks, we've been getting a lot of calls about the pond and we wanted to do an update. The bad news is, the creeks are dry up here in the mountains and our lake which feeds the trout pond is down four feet. The temps are holding just above ideal for rainbow trout which means for the moment, we can't stock. 😞 With the rains coming in this weekend and as the temperatures continue to cool, we hope to stock very soon! 🎣 Please keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates! We appreciate everyone understanding! 🥰
