Route 414 along the western shore of Seneca Lake might be one of the most underrated scenic drives in the Finger Lakes, vineyard rows terracing the hillsides above water that turns a deep silver blue as the sun starts to drop. 🍇 It's a route built for slowing down, not rushing through, especially once golden hour hits and the whole hillside starts to glow.

Boats sit anchored near small marinas along the shoreline, rolling hills layered in warm color stretch toward the horizon, and the road itself curves just enough to keep the drive interesting without ever feeling technical. Wineries dot the route on both sides, but even without a single stop, the drive alone is worth the trip, lake water reflecting a sky that shifts from gold to deep orange as evening settles in. It's the kind of road that rewards an early evening departure over an afternoon one, timed specifically to catch the light at its best.

Some drives exist to get you somewhere. This one exists because the getting there is the entire point. 🍷
