Hi everyone this is Andrea - This past Thursday, my 26 year old son was killed while riding his bicycle, in a hit and run tragedy. The suspect was subsequently identified and arrested, and just as quickly after being booked in, released on an unsecured bond, back into the Asheville community.
At 26 years of age, Alex was wiser than a lot of us who surpass him in age by decades.
Alex wrote a book before he was killed called - “How to Leave an Impact on the World, Made Simple.”
This is an excerpt from his book.
“Today Is the Only Day
There is no such thing as tomorrow. This very moment is the only moment that we are guaranteed to change the world.
Many people develop a habit of procrastinating on big or difficult decisions. The only thing this does is to put gaps between our achievements. Putting tasks off until later times is a habit that will destroy momentum in life. We never truly know if tomorrow is promised for us. If we delay, we may find that too many tomorrows have added up to our entire lives being wasted; either by allowing fear to paralyze us, or by simply moving in the wrong direction in life for too long a time.
We are constantly either progressing or regressing in our lives, but we are never at a simple standstill. Time is our biggest adversary, and time continues to move whether we do or not. Today is the only day that we truly have on this earth to influence the world. We have a choice to do that in either a positive or a negative way with every single action and thought”
So please live each day as if it is your last day, as tomorrow isn’t promised!
Rest In Peace Son!
