anyone interested?
I posted this a few weeks back and had minimal response which was surprising. A couple of possible candidates lived too far away to make this work and the person I thought was the perfect candidate backed out last night. This is an incredible opportunity for someone living within an hour’s drive of my office that is passionate about Appalachian culture and the medium of photography/videography with a desire to continue to live in these beautiful mountains and make a great living doing so.
I’m seeking a mentee/protege to begin the process of sharing what little knowledge I have and passing forward some of the projects I am passionate about. Potential candidates should be passionate about our region and culture, have a vehemence to create, show basic photography skills and have a unique vision, they must be computer literate and have a sufficient command of basic writing skills and the english language. They should have good people skills and an ability to rationalize life. First and foremost they should be dedicated to the work at hand.
Additional skill sets that would be considered a plus include videography, audio recording, editing and basic understanding of creative softwares.
Perks, rewards and/or compensation will include access to equipment, and technology with potential future ownership of some of the aforementioned gear, acquisition of past and current projects which sit on sturdy foundations, access to my nearly fifty years of knowledge as a photographer, web designer, graphic artist, writer and humanitarian.
My photographic knowledge spans several genres of the medium including photojournalism, portraiture, sports, tabletop, industrial, corporate, documentary, fashion, product, still life, entertainment and fine art among others.
In the beginning the selected candidate must commit at least one full day per week to this opportunity. Those with an interest should contact me via private message or use the contact form on my website. Here is a link to that form:
