Loess Hills Hideaway Cabins & Campground We are open all year round - offering rustic, comfortable accommodations for outdoor enthusiasts. These share our modern bathhouse.

Our setting is ideal for getaways, small retreats, and hunting quarters. Come explore the beautiful and unique Loess Hills of Western Iowa. We have four small housekeeping cabins with kitchenettes numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4. We also have three larger cabins with full size kitchens and bathrooms and these are called the Lodge, the Cottage, and the Homestead. Six well-groomed RV campsites with 35 amp hook-ups each have a picnic table and fire-ring.

Our first time hosting a retreat was a success!!! We are going to start posting more often on FB for those that want to follow our projects at the Hideaway. So far, we have planted about 70 trees, are getting an area ready for our bee hives, and repainted two of the cabins. We are thinking of having a bluegrass event (one day) in late summer. Would this be of interest? 🕺

We wanted to introduce ourselves as the new owners of the Loess Hills Hideaway! We are so excited and thankful to have this opportunity! A short story about how this came about.Over five years ago Steve and I were at the San Diego airport at luggage claim. I figured out that Martin had been on our flight from Omaha and struck up a conversation. We mentioned we were avid hikers, and Martin gave us his card to the Loess Hills Hideaway. Every time I would clean out my desk, I would keep it exactly where I had left it. Five years later I was looking for a location to bring our dogs during the 4th of July. I called the number on the card and spoke with Martin.There was no space available, but Martin encouraged me to check out their Facebook. I scrolled down and noticed he had posted few months previously that they were interested in selling the Hideaway to individuals that would continue the business and love it as much as he and Lori had for 23 years. Steve and I met him the next day and made an offer the following morning. We absolutely fell in love. I still have his card in the same place to this day. It will be framed at the Hideaway office as a reminder that at times everything does fall into place when you least expect. We look forward to meeting all of you and sharing this tranquil place in a busy world.♡♡♡♡

TOMORROW IS HERE!! And tomorrow will be our last day as owners of the Loess Hills Hideaway Cabins & Campground. It’s been a great run these past 23 years – a boyhood dream come true. Thank you for your encouragements and many, many fine memories! The excited new owners, Steve and Lacy, will be taking over this page on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 – so please welcome them as they welcome you. Lori and I will be keeping the Homestead and Cottage cabins on Madrid Ave and these will be offered for rent under the business name COUNTRY ROAD CABINS. We direct you to come over and LIKE our page COUNTRYROADCABINSIOWA. To bait you, the 250th LIKE on the new page will win a free night stay.
