arrived Sunday with fresh colts in hand for our C**t Starting Specialty Week and their HBB Memorial Clinic honoring the late Dr. Woody Bartlett, a titan of the quarter horse industry.

This week they work together in our arena, developing skill sets, bringing out what's already been meticulously bred into these horses. In the coming days, these colts will carry their riders under saddle across the sage flats of Grand Teton to be photographed.

By the end of your week, you probably won’t remember every detail. But you’ll remember the faces. The ones who woke up well before dawn. The voice on the other end of a radio making last minute requests come together. The hands that prepared your table, guided your cast, steadied your rope.

More than half of this team is returning and we have outstanding new faces mixed in too. These are folks who know your name before you arrive. People who choose this life because they understand that hospitality isn’t just a job; it’s a commitment to being present with each interaction.

This is what dance night is all about! The sun drops behind the Tetons and somewhere between the first and last song the steps stop mattering. It's just about being right here in this moment, together.

On Friday evening the cookout grill fires up one last time and we finish the week with a farewell barbecue at the chuckwagon.

Elbow-deep cast irons filled to the brim, and traditional blue enamel plates barely big enough for a first helping. You'll find bison ribs, bbq shrimp, charred corn, grilled asparagus and much more down the chuck line.

It's the meal that closes out every guest week, served outside the way it's been done here for a hundred years. No dining room, no fancy place settings. Just good food and a wholesome evening around the campfire!

Bald eagles nest in the cottonwood trees along the Snake River, the same stretch of water our guests float every week. As apex predators in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, their presence is one of the clearest signs this valley is healthy. They regulate prey populations, keep smaller predator species in balance, and support the broader food chain from the top down.

A healthy eagle population means healthy fish runs, clean water, and intact habitat. When you see one hunting from a perch above the Snake, you're looking at proof that this ecosystem is working the way it's supposed to. Some days they pass directly over the float boat. You never schedule it. The valley just reminds you what lives here when you get out and explore all that it has to offer!

Seven days until we open our doors again!

The cabins are ready. The facilities are set. This week, our staff comes together for cross-departmental training, sharpening service standards and building the kind of camaraderie between coworkers that guests feel the moment they arrive.

At Lost Creek, the heart of the ranch is the people who work it and the soul is the folks who come from all walks of life to experience it.

Our staff have officially arrived on property and training is underway! We are proud to share, this year, we'll be welcoming back the majority of our staff from 2025. Guests returning for a second season in a row can expect to see plenty of familiar faces throughout their week, together with some great new folks too.
