Bin 4 hosted its first guests Friday! It turned out beautiful featuring 2 full beds and a full size fold out couch allowing it to easily sleep 5. It’s 3’ larger than bins 1-3 so has more counter space in the kitchen and bathroom as well.

Bin 4 got its top today! Ready for its first guests Friday. Reminiscing to the first picture we took of the bins after purchasing them at a farm auction in fall of 2022, then moving the 3 18’ bins in May of 2023, tearing down and re-building the 2 21’ bins in September of 2023, then utilities, fall/ winter 23 into spring of 24’. Bin 1 opened in august of 24’. It’s been a process and such a fun custom project. Looking forward to all 5 being done by the end of the year. More picture to come. Bin 4 - being larger features 2 full beds, a larger sofa couch, larger TV, more counter space in the kitchen and bathroom and a larger kitchen table. This bin can sleep 5.

Such a amazing place for night sky photography

The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is a recognized International Dark Sky Park. It is considered one of the quietest National Park Service sites with pristine night skies due to its remote location. ✨ Would you hike up one of the sand dunes and pitch a tent overnight to see the Milky Way? Variation:
Day 1: Arrive at Rustic Rook and stay in a fully climate controlled up-cycled grain bin with amazing views of the snowy mountains and dunes.

Have dinner and craft cocktails at the nearby Dune Distillery then enjoy a smokeless propane fire outside on the patio while roasting S'mores for dessert.

Day 2: Rent sand sleds and head to the dunes to hike, sled and explore. Then check out Zapata Falls before heading back to clean up in your bin. Next up: head 15 mins. north to the Colorado Gator and Reptile Farm and then to the Sand Dunes Recreation hot springs for a soak and dinner in one of their 2 restaurants.

Day 3. Head out and have breakfast at at Ruby Rose Cafe and Micro Bakery then choose a local hike in nearby Del Norte (ask us for suggestions) or for a more challenging hike/snowshoeing/cross country skiing check out South fork. Explore the town's shops and restaurants. Don't forget to grab some local honey at Haefelis Honey.

Day 4. Pack up and head to the Pit Stop 4 miles away - grab a few ready to eat locally made Boom Town Breakfast burritos for the road and head to Monarch Skii area or Wolf Creek. Each are about an hour away for a fun filled day skiing.

Visit the largest alpine valley in the world, home of The Great Sand Dunes NP and Rustic Rook
