Let’s talk deviled eggs. “Deviled”is a culinary term that is used to describe a highly seasoned dish. This yummy treat dates back to the 15th century. Medieval cookbooks had recipes for boiled eggs filled with raisins, cheese and herbs such as marjoram, parsley and mint then topped with cinnamon, ginger, cloves and raisins.
Stuffed eggs made their appearance in U.S. cookbooks in late 1800s. I love to play with the fillings & toppings. This batch had bacon and dijon and sumac for colorful, flavorful topping. Are you a devil egg purist??

View from my morning coffee cup this morning…Britt’s Doughnuts at Carolina Beach. The line begins well before opening time. This marks my 57th year enjoying THE best doughnut ever. It has not changed much over this time. Had to be lifted up to sit at the counter when enjoyed my first fresh doughnut with cup of cold milk-the best! Swipe left to enjoy your doughnut without the calories.
