Rose Heart Inn, LLC Rose Heart Inn, Bed and Breakfast Every room is lovingly decorated with period Victorian antiques. You can also play video games on the big screen TV.

With its spacious front porch, three story turret and eye-browed gables, the Rose Heart Inn is a prime example of late 19th century Queen Anne Victorian architecture. Original double art glass panels and parquet floors still grace the two story foyer. The house features all of its original leaded glass windows and doors. The large front porch, with its swing and lots of cushioned chairs, is the pe

rfect place to unwind with a good book or your sweetheart. At the Rose Heart Inn we strive to provide our guests with a comfortable and accommodating atmosphere. In 2004 the Inn was extensively remodeled to add private owner’s quarters, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and five guest rooms each with a private bath. Every measure was taken to keep the architectural, period features of the home while adding modern luxuries for the discerning traveler. “The Inn is a mix of romantic charm and high tech wizardry…” as quoted in the Marion Star on March 14, 2005. The TV/Game Room on the third floor offers a casual atmosphere to watch satellite TV or DVDs. Or if you want to get back to days gone by, you can play one of the many board games. If you just can’t relax and need that extra jolt of adrenaline, you can workout in our private exercise area. Take a leisurely stroll downtown to Main Street and visit the local coffee shop, bakery, restaurants, ice cream parlor, gift shops and antique stores. You can catch a first run movie at the vintage movie theater at half the cost of going to the city. The public library, genealogy annex and courthouse are all within a block of the Inn. If you feel really adventurous, take an afternoon trip to some of the area’s shopping, dining, parks and historic sites. We are convenient to Mid-Ohio Racetrack, Mt. Gilead State Park, Pine Lakes Golf course, and the Fair Grounds. Marion, Mansfield, and Columbus are all within a 30-40 minute drive.

Mount Gilead to host Boydell Shakespeare Gallery

The Mount Gilead Public Library in conjunction with Mount Gilead Area Writers Guild are hosting a Shakespeare Literary Art Gallery through Friday, May 16, 2025. The event includes 18 original copper engraving prints from scenes of various Shakespeare plays on display at Mount Gilead Public Library. These engravings were printed in London to commemorate the Boydell Shakespeare Gallery, dating to the late 1700s and early 1800s.
Visitors will be able to view the 225-year-old prints on the 3rd floor of Mount Gilead Public Library, from Shakespeare’s early plays including Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado about Nothing, and Midsummer Night’s Dream, to his later work including Twelfth Night, Hamlet, and Macbeth. Many of the well-known verses from Shakespeare’s plays are visible on placards beneath the prints, each depicting a particular act and scene. In addition, visitors are encouraged to participate by completing an interactive trivia handout—which asks questions relative to several of the featured plays, some regarding well-known Shakespeare passages.

“We are delighted in having the opportunity to present to the public this unique collection of unique prints that highlight the revival of interest in Shakespeare during the late 18th century in Britain,” said Scot Long, curator of the art collection. Many of the Shakespeare prints that comprise the collection, reproduced between 1791 and 1802, represent the only surviving images of the original works of art.

The Boydell Shakespeare Gallery event is free and open to the public. The Mount Gilead Public Library is located on East High Street in Mount Gilead, just one block from the square. The exhibit is available to visit during regular library hours.
