I64 Road Closure

Beginning Tuesday, April 22 at 7pm, interstate 64 EB will be closed for emergency repairs. EB I64 traffic will be diverted to the alternate route at the Centralia 61 exit. The alternate route includes US Hwy 51 SB to IL HWY 15 East to I57. This closure is expected to last until Wednesday morning at 7 am.

April showers definitely bring May flowers, but they also can bring dangerous driving conditions that may require the use of windshield wipers and your headlights. The Illinois State Police want you to ALWAYS be safe while driving.

The US National Weather Service Central Illinois is predicting waves of showers and storms that will affect areas of Illinois Wednesday through Saturday. The heaviest rain is expected near and south of I-70, where totals over 6" are forecast. This will increase risks of flash flooding and river flooding late this week.

🚘 Do NOT attempt to drive through a flooded road- the depth of the water is not always obvious.
🚘 Do NOT drive around a barricade- they are there for your protection.
🚘 Do NOT take short cuts- they may be blocked.
🚘 Be cautious driving at night.
🚘 Use your headlights responsibly.
