Blythe Cottage Inn ~ a bed & breakfast A great home away from home in Mount Vernon, Iowa! We also have our "cottage". The cottage is completely private.

We are located two blocks from the western edge of the Cornell College campus - about a 5-minute walk to the middle of campus...

In the lower level of our home we have two sleeping rooms with both a full and a single bed and private baths. There is a large common area with sitting and dining areas, and a full kitchen for the sole use of our guests. It is a carriage house above a detached garage t

hat houses our wood-burning boiler and fire wood. It has two full-sized beds and a pull-out sofa bed. There is a desk and a dining table as well as another seating area. The kitchenette comes complete with a vintage kitchen cupboard, sink, small refrigerator and microwave.

We remodeled our kitchen in our guest cottage. It all started with this awesome aqua sink that went through the flood of 2008 in a basement in Cedar Rapids. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The quartz counters for the corner are on order, but we made due until they come in.

We're planning some updates to our guest cottage... New windows and we will be making the kitchenette into a more serviceable kitchen with a stove/oven... Stay tuned!

We'll have a packed house for Homecoming/Parents & Family weekend at Cornell... If you are around on Friday night or Saturday, make sure to come and watch the CORNELL RAM'S VOLLEYBALL team take on Ripon (Friday night at 7:00pm) and Carroll (Saturday morning at 11:00am)
