After 22 years Linda and I will be starting a new chapter in our lives. We finalized the sale of Hummingbird Hideaway Resort this afternoon and are packed to head to Texas in the morning. We have mixed emotions about this. We are really going to miss all the great guests and local residents as many have become lifelong friends. Thank you all! I will definitely miss Norfork Lake that has given me many hours of pleasure over the years. But we are also extremely excited about our retirement and to be able to spend more time with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids. We will be relocating back to Texas in the Lake Conroe area north of Houston.

The new owners are excited to get into the resort life and plan to continue operating Hummingbird Hideaway as a family/fishing resort. Again, thanks for your support and friendship. We will look forward to seeing you on facebook.

PS: my last fishing tip for Norfork Lake is that there is a good topwater bite for largemouth and spotted bass. I found them and my current guests are still catching them part way up river from Cranfield to Redbank. They start coming up at sunrise and it is lasting a couple of hours. They are not monsters, yet, but a blast to catch. Happy fishing!

I was trolling Berkley Flicker Minnows this morning on a large flat. I was staying in 30 to 34 feet of water and getting my bait down to 30 feet. There were more walleye in the area last Friday versus this morning. I did manage to land 2 keepers and one short. The crappie are finally starting to show up on the flat. You won't catch a bunch, but when you do, they are huge. This guy was 15.5 inches long and very thick. Water temp was around 83 degrees. Enjoy the upcoming week the weather is supposed to be great. The lake level is back to normal seasonal pool. These two guys will be lunch tomorrow.

I'm back! Long time no see, but I am finally getting back on the lake a little more often. This morning was walleye hunting with some success. I also got to hook a big old 170 pounder. I had my daughter and granddaughter out fishing Norfork Lake this morning. Both got to land the species we were looking for with a bonus of a nice size catfish. Both Keri and Jordan were using a 1oz or a 3/4oz spoon. The stripers were on the bottom in 65 to 70 feet of water. All of their fish gave a great lengthy fight.
