Congratulations to Camp & Retreat Center, which just celebrated its 10th annual comprehensive star party! At this year's event, UBarU honored emeritus board member and long-time First UU San Antonio member Roy by formally dedicating its observatory in his name. Roy played a key role in earning UBarU's dark sky certification and bringing the observatory to life. Thank you Roy for the work, commitment, and love of the night sky you've given to UBarU over the years.

✨ We just celebrated our 10th annual comprehensive star party!

At this year's event, we honored one of our board members Roy by formally dedicating our observatory in his name. Roy was integral to everything dark sky at UBarU, from earning our dark sky certification to bringing the observatory to life. We're so grateful for the work, commitment, and love of the night sky he's poured into UBarU over the years.

The Dos Duderstadt Fire south of Harper burned about 7 acres at the NE corner of UBarU. No structures were threatened. Crews bulldozed a fire break on UBarU. As of 8/28 at 7:25pm, the fire was marked as 100% contained. The A&M forestry team said the fire seemed to have been started by lightning. We have some fence to repair and we may need to do some cleanup of trees where they bulldozed them for the fire break. We are extremely thankful for the fire fighters, and so thankful that nobody was hurt.
