🍲🍂 THIS ARKANSAS MOUNTAIN TOWN IS COOKING HUNDREDS OF POUNDS OF BEANS RIGHT IN THE TOWN SQUARE, WITH FOLK MUSIC & OZARK FALL SCENERY ALL AROUND!
Beanfest is back in Mountain View, Arkansas, October 23–24, 2026, and this is one fall festival where the food is part of the show.
On Friday, the festivities begin with music and events around the historic town square. Then Saturday morning, cooks fire up enormous cast-iron pots and begin preparing beans the old-fashioned way. At lunchtime, visitors line up for free beans and cornbread while competing teams hope to earn bragging rights in the bean cook-off.
And then things get wonderfully weird.
🥄 The Arkansas Championship Outhouse Races send decorated, wheeled outhouses racing down the street, making this one of Mountain View’s quirkiest traditions.
🎻 Add live folk and bluegrass music, craft vendors and the old-time atmosphere of a town known as the “Folk Music Capital of the World,” and Beanfest becomes much more than a food festival.
The setting makes it even better.
Mountain View sits in the Arkansas Ozarks, so late October is a great time to combine the festival with a scenic drive through the surrounding hills. Add nearby Blanchard Springs Caverns or the winding roads through the Ozark National Forest and you have an easy festival-and-fall-scenery weekend.
