Fall Equinox

September 22: Fall officially begins tonight and the changing season arrives beneath a beautiful waxing gibbous Moon.

At 8:05 p.m. EDT, the September equinox marks the astronomical beginning of fall across the Northern Hemisphere. At that precise moment, the Sun crosses the celestial equator from north to south, signaling a major turning point in Earth's yearly journey around the Sun.

The word equinox comes from Latin roots meaning “equal night,” because day and night are close to equal around this time of year though not exactly 12 hours each because of atmospheric refraction and the way sunrise and sunset are defined.

And as autumn begins, a waxing gibbous Moon will brighten the September evening, growing night by night toward the Harvest Moon on September 26.

A new season. A brightening Moon. And the first autumn night written across the sky.

September 18, 2026 -- Release Day!!! Yay!
A little bit of background about this album and the collaboration with Pete Huttlinger:
I grew up listening to John Denver and his music deeply resonated with me, and still does. A fair amount of wanderlust led me to the American West, the landscapes and wilderness he so beautifully sang about. My twelve-year-old self, buying my first guitar in our local music store, to learn to play the songs of John Denver (and my other idol Emmylou Harris), could not have fathomed, not in a million years, to be singing with the same incredible musicians who graced stages around the world with both of these iconic artists.

It was my luck to cross paths with the remarkable finger-picking guitarplayer Pete Huttlinger, who encouraged me to record some songs with him. This led to this album. Just good clean playing and honoring the melody was his motto.

Besides being the incredible musician, Pete had an unmatched will to live, and everyone should read the book he and Erin wrote together, 'Joined at the Heart' – they really are too! He lived by example, and if he was determined to do something, he made it happen.

Such a mentor to so many people and loved by anyone who knows him. It makes you think twice when you think an obstacle is insurmountable – what would Pete do? One of his quotes is “Don't just live, live well”. Not a bad thing to remember each morning.

I am forever grateful for his gift of music and friendship. When we lost Pete in 2016, this album was almost lost to technical issues, but again I had the luck that some years later the tracks were recovered. Then under the guidance of several of Pete's closest friends, we got it back on track (literally) and took it to the finish line.

It is my hope this music will warm your soul, and accompany you on long drives and quiet evenings. -- My sincere thanks! -- Anita.
