We're honoring Sgt. Monica Lin Brown, a courageous Army medic who, at just 18 years old, deployed to Afghanistan with the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division. On April 25, 2007, in the Jani Khel district, Brown ran through heavy enemy fire and exploding mortars to provide life saving medical aid to wounded buddies after an lED ambush, shielding them with her own body. For her gallantry, she became the first woman during the W@r in Afghanistan and only the second since WWII to receive the Silver Star. God Bless this American hero! 🇺🇸
