When there is a wedding at the Bed and Breakfast, we ring the Old Kalorama school house bell to celebrate the newlyweds! The bell was originally atop a one room school house called the Kalorama School located on North Tipton Road the old bell was relocated to the gazebo at Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast. Rather than calling children to school as it did one hundred years ago, it rings in celebrationy. Countless guests have rung the bell! Wouldn’t you like to take a turn celebrating at the Bed and Breakfast?

Strawberry Box Staple Machine the hard way, foot powered. From 1858 to 1952 Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast was a Strawberry Farm, now we are. Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast. We still have some of the equipment for strawberries as this staple Strawberry Box machine. Take a look, even though it is over a hundred years old.

Almost 100 years old

This was found by Chris Brase at Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast. He was merely doing some metal detection work by our driveway. If you will note the date it is almost a Century old.

Just how historical is Strawberry Farm Bed and Breakfast?

Henry Smith, Horton Smith, started raising Strawberries in 1858 through 1952. It is my understanding that there are still people in Muscatine that in fact picked strawberries at the "Smith Strawberry's" and he paid them by the box that they picked. Are there any of you out there yet that worked here who could tell me what it was like to work for my ancestors . Everybody ask Grandpa and Grandmother" if they ever picked strawberries here.
