Happy Litha/Midsummer's Eve! Blessed Summer Solstice! Whatever you call it, today is the longest day of the year: The sun is at its highest peak, causing darkness to be at its shortest, and daylight at its longest. Litha, derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for "midsummer", honors the sun's power as it bathes the earth with plentiful light and warmth, promising continued vitality and abundance for the community. Various rituals are performed to strengthen the sun's graces, for it will soon begin its slow decline throughout the rest of the year.

Did You Know?

- Early European traditions celebrated midsummer by setting large wheels on fire and then rolling them down a hill into a body of water.

- The Romans honored this time as sacred to Juno, the wife of Jupiter and goddess of women and childbirth; her name gives us the month of June.

- The word “solstice” is from the Latin word "solstitium", which literally translates to “sun stands still.”

Shades of the past begone! May you find that shadows which have been haunting you don't seem to be as long or menacing as before, taking strength from the lasting light that guides your way. You are at your highest point, able to see and conquer all that could possibly frighten you. May this time of year prove how strong you are, not leaving any doubt that once again you are a champion within your own right. Troubles may try to loom on the horizon, but they are far out enough to not bother you on this day of joy and celebration. Bask in the present, and enjoy the light shining on your life! Blessed be!

Ever wondered about how parchment was made, how rare it has become, and how it's used today? I just discovered this small business that - lo and behold - exists back in my home state! Talk about a small world! I highly recommend checking out this family-run business to learn how one of the most highly-used mediums during the Middle Ages has overcome many obstacles over the centuries!

As the Castle of Muskogee's 2026 season comes to a close, it's a reminder to me that life goes on, whether you wish for it or not. I can't help but miss the fairemily I was lucky enough to be a part of in Oklahoma for a few short years. And yet, while I am sad I was not able to spend this season with you all, I am so thrilled to see the continued growth and promise the community has brought to the public. It shows that we can make magic happen anytime, anywhere, so long as we're together in our support, love, and care for each other. And that, my dear friends, is something I am forever grateful to see from anywhere I may be in the world.

While Oklahoma's main Ren Faire season is approaching the final cannon this Sunday, we still have some exciting events over the summer and fall that will continue the whimsy, magic, and fun for everyone! So keep an eye out, I'll be sure to share that exciting info over the following weeks!

Stay magical, bring love, and share light wherever you may roam! Huzzah! ✨🪶💙

Did you know Scottish games have been held in Yukon, OK, during the month of May for several years now? If not, let me introduce you to Stirling Classic Scottish Festival, which runs from Friday to Sunday, May 29th - 31st!

Hosted at the Mollie Spencer Farm located right off of Garth Brooks Blvd and next to Yukon Middle School, the Stirling Classic Scottish Festival (also known as the Iron Thistle in the past) is a unique celebration of Celtic culture, complete with shopping, music and dance, food, and good ‘old-fashioned Scottish fun and games! Throughout the weekend, visitors enjoy a taste of Scotland and other Celtic nations through many available activities and entertainers, including heavy athletics, sheepherding demonstrations, Celtic dance, roving pipe bands, traditional and modern music, classic Scottish fare, and even a crafters’ village! It's a small little portal to Scottish heritage and culture that will make you ever forget you're in the middle of the United States!

This has been a personal favorite of mine for many years, as it's like having a bit of Scotland right in my own backyard. I hope you take the time to visit this weekend, and enjoy all the fun, games, and activities this event has to offer! And as a side bonus, if you've been to Guthrie Renaissance Festival, Guthrie Oklahoma, many of the attending athletes are the same ones that were part of the Oklahoma Celtic Clash held during the faire!

As you know, today is Memorial Day, and also another day of faire at Castle of Muskogee. However, it is a humble "huzzah" we whisper through the streets today, as it is a somber day of remembrance of all those we have lost, both here and abroad, to the overseas wars or the battles at home. While I will not be there for the Veteran/Military side of the parade happening at noontide, I highly encourage you to attend Castleton today in honor of those I, and many others, have come to know and lose throughout the years.

As a personal plea, while it may feel like the wars are far away, they come home with our servicemen/women every day, even if they don't show it. It's not always the physical weapon that kills; rather, it's more often than not the unseen threats that hide in the minds of those who have seen and/or done too much. Please, be sure to check on your loved ones. Make sure they know there's help and support, no matter how bleak it may seem. They need to know that all they sacrificed, and all their families did for them, wasn't in vain.

Until Valhallah, brothers and sisters.
