The Joy of Motherhood statue by Willard Newman Hirsh is located in the Brookgreen Gardens American Sculpture exhibit. The statue was originally commissioned in 1970 as a life-size fountain group for the lobby of the Home Federal Savings and Loan of Charleston. This smaller, bronze version was acquired by the South Carolina State Museum in 1985. What's your favorite statue in the garden?

Updates on Isaias!

1PM FRIDAY HURRICANE ISAIAS UPDATE

One of the things people fear the most around here is a long duration rain event like we had with Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. That lead to catastrophic flooding for many people.
While the exact track of this system is not known yet, I can say with high confidence that we will not have a repeat of those two hurricanes. This forecast is based on the current track of Isaias. The location of the heaviest rain will change as the track changes, but even if the strip of yellow was over us, it wouldn't produce widespread flooding. Obviously, minor flooding would be possible, but nothing terribly serious.

Wind impacts will all depend on how close the system is to the coast and how much wind shear and dry air weaken the storm. The worst of the wind would be over the ocean and it's most likely we wouldn't experience hurricane-force winds.

To Our Guests and Owners:

Effective July 3rd, 2020, Horry County Council has mandated the wearing of face coverings in public places, such as retail stores, grocery stores, or any business where personal services are provided. This ordinance comes after North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach City Councils passed similar mandates. For more information, read the mandate in its entirety here:

This needs posted on Schooner FB:

Schooner Beach & Racquet Club Owners & Guests,

We look forward to welcoming you to our resort and to Myrtle Beach, and we ask that you join us in taking steps to ensure the health and safety of our beautiful community.

Our management company, Capital Vacations, is taking extra precautions to ensure that units and common areas are fully sanitized using the highest grade, CDC-approved cleaners. Furthermore, our resort is practicing physical social distancing, but we need our owners and guests to adhere to common-sense safety practices as well.

Due to limited supply and increased demand, you may find stores in the Myrtle Beach area have a minimal stock of sanitizer and masks. To do your part in protecting yourself and your family members, as well as our employees and community members, please bring face coverings and hand sanitizers to use throughout your vacation along the Grand Strand. By planning ahead, you will be playing a significant role in helping our beach communities to thrive.

Please remember that you are responsible for the health and safety of yourself and your family members. We ask that you take COVID-19 seriously as you visit with us. If we all work together and each of us does our part, we can slow the spread of the virus while protecting the most vulnerable in our communities.

Thank you,
Your Schooner Beach & Racquet Club Board of Directors and Management
