Honor military members and veterans from the beach on Independence Day at the 16th Annual Salute from the Shore. Vintage and military planes will fly down the South Carolina coastline in support of military personnel. Driving a golf cart in Myrtle Beach? South Carolina recently updated its golf cart laws. Here are the two key changes you need to know.

1. Children under 12 must wear a seat belt while riding in a golf cart on public roads.
2. Municipalities now have more authority over golf cart regulations, including operating hours and nighttime use. The City of Myrtle Beach is currently reviewing its local golf cart ordinance in light of these changes.

Other Myrtle Beach rules remain the same. Don't forget...

- Golf carts may only be operated during daylight hours.
- Golf carts must be insured, permitted and registered with the SCDMV.
- The golf cart must remain within four miles of the address listed on the registration certificate, or within four miles of an entrance to a gated community if the address is within the gated community
- Driver must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver's license.
- The golf cart may be operated only on a secondary highway or street for which the posted speed limit is 35 mph or less.
