Hurricane Ian Update
Thursday, September 29, 2022. 11:00 am ET

The Schooner II team is currently monitoring Hurricane Ian closely.

The National Weather Service has now issued a Hurricane Warning for the Myrtle Beach, SC area (Horry & Georgetown Counties). A Hurricane Warning means that winds of 74+ mph are expected within the next 24 hours.

THE LATEST TRACK CONTINUES TO SHOW THAT “IAN” WILL BE A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE.

On the forecast track, Ian will approach the coast of South Carolina on Friday. The center will move farther inland across the Carolinas Friday night and Saturday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph with higher gusts. Ian is expected to become a hurricane again this evening and make landfall as a hurricane on Friday, with rapid weakening forecast after landfall. Ian is a large cyclone.

We ask that you please continue to monitor the storm, prepare for dangerous winds, and finalize any plans to depart the resort ahead of the storm.

The indoor spa has seen a facelift with the install of the new moisture resistant ceiling. Along with that, we have installed a fan designed to pull the excess moisture and heat from the room. This will give our owners and guests a more enjoyable experience and better protecting our property!

A special visitor made an appearance at Schooner II today as part of our proactive pest prevention. Rufus is a dog trained to detect a variety of pests so that corrective action can be implemented. Rufus is working hard to help us deliver the best owner and guest experience possible.

Good morning to all our owners and frequent guests. Initial updates from the property are generally favorable, with some light water intrusion and landscape debris that needs to be attended to. The team will be assessing the units throughout the day today.

We remain open and available!

Now that the ban on short term reservations has been lifted we are now opening on 5/9/20. We will have certain limitations on visitors that we have to follow in an effort to protect you and the onsite teams safe.

If you decide to visit, please keep in mind that conditions have not completely returned to business as usual. Many restaurants will either be closed or restricted to takeout, delivery our outside dining with social distancing only. You may also encounter limited retail and shopping options, continued social distancing orders, partially or fully-closed amenities, and limited staff interactions.

Anyone with upcoming reservations will be contacted by the resort either by phone or email to provide more details on the new procedures that we have enacted at the property due to COVID-19. We look forward to welcoming those of you that are able to visit us soon!
