Come out and join us at Jockey's Ridge for two days of kite-flying fun (Fri-Sat) for the whole family. Enjoy massive display kites flying high, including a 100-foot octopus, an 80-foot panda, and a 50-foot fish. And participate in FREE stunt and power kite lessons given by pros. Throughout the event, come watch world-class displays of artistry and skill with kite flying set to music, synchronized performances, and more!

We will be hosting our annual Speedy Sprout Sprint at 11 am on Saturday! Bring your little ones to race and see who can get their kite the highest. The top three sprinters will win a prize from Kitty Hawk Kites!

The Community Care Clinic of Dare is excited to announce its 5th Annual Billfish Tournament set to take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. This signature fundraising event has grown in popularity over the years and promises a fun day of offshore fishing and an opportunity for the community and visitors to come together to support vital healthcare services. The Captain's Meeting/Dinner will take place on Friday September 11 at 6:00pm at the Pirate's Cove Marina Pavilion.

Cash awards for First Place Points and First Billfish caught. There will also be a dockside Calcutta –

1st place 50%, 2nd place 30% 3rd place 20%. ($2,000 entry fee per boat)

Outer Banks Triathlon
September 11, 2026 - September 12, 2026
Swim-Bike-Run! The Outer Banks Triathlon starts with a swim in the Croatan Sound on Roanoke Island, Manteo. Two days of multi-sport racing including 2 distances: Olympic and Sport. Olympic starts with a .93 miles (1.5 Kilometer) swim, then a 25 mile bike ride, and ends with a 6.2 mile run. While the Sprint starts with a 750 meter swim, then a 12.4 mile bike ride, and ends with a 3.1 mile run. Keep an eye out for some of our Aquabike options too!

Prices will go up every couple of months as we approach race day. Be sure to register early to get the best possible price!

Dare County Regional Airport
The First Flight Society hosts an annual National Aviation Day Celebration at Dare County Regional Airport every August 19th. The event runs from 10AM-3PM and consists of Airplane Displays, Exhibitors, Speakers, and Food Trucks. The mission of the celebration is to provide a fun and educational experience promoting, honoring, and celebrating the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers and helping educate the world about aviation. NAD is a free event aimed at all ages.
