Happy Anniversary to Clyde and Marion, who have been together for 68 years! They’re celebrating their anniversary with us at the Sea Foam, and are some of our last guests on the oceanfront before the rooms are remodeled. They have been visiting us at Sea Foam for 34 years. Their families have continued the sea Foam tradition for their Outer Banks vacations. Thanks for spending another vacation with us, love birds!

The Sea Foam from behind!

Thanks to John for sharing this photo with us and a little piece of what makes staying at the Sea Foam so special. He told us he leaves the door open, listens to the ocean through the screen door, and falls asleep to the sound of the waves when he stays with us.

It’s the simple things, like falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, that make the Sea Foam a place worth coming back to.🌊

Wow, thanks for the feedback on the keys!

We realize how special the nostalgia of the Sea Foam is to all of you, especially after that post. Thank you for loving the Sea Foam and being so connected to it.

Can you believe we’ve had guests offer to buy furniture and art work off the walls and out of the rooms at this motel?

We know how special this place is to you all, and how important it is to preserve some of the things that hold the past.

A sunny weekend that feels just like summer in October ☀️ the Outer Banks has been showing off post Nor’easter with clear skies, sunshine, and tide pools lining the beaches. Have you ever visited Nags head during our off season?

The Sea Foam is known for its history and nostalgia, and one detail that guests either love (and sometimes hate) is our old-fashioned manual keys.

While most hotels have moved to keyless entry, there’s something special about turning a physical key. It feels a little more personal, a little more connected to the past, and true to the kind of experience that makes the Sea Foam what it is.

Meet Clint Sterling and his wife Ruth. They were recent guests here at the Sea Foam, but their Outer Banks history goes wayyy back.

A full-circle moment at Sea Foam.

Louise Meekins was part of the Meekins family whose history is woven into the early years of Sea Foam Motel. More than 75 years after Sea Foam opened its doors in 1948, her grandson came back to stay with us.

We love when the history of this place comes back through the door.

Clint’s grandmother is Louise Meekins, she was the first female Historical Aide to work at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and was the first Park Historian at Cape Hatteras National Seashore! She was also one of the first women to enlist in the Navy in World War I. (Far right in second photo)

Meekins was a Manteo native and a member of Manteo High School’s first graduating class of 1916. She worked as a teacher in the Dare County School System before joining the National Park Service around 1950.
