One of the bigger spring improvements this year was a fresh powerwashing of the deck and new support for the front bump-out portion of the deck. A section of the deck was slowly sinking out of level and really the support just wasn't in the correct place - the cantilever was too large.

After jacking it up and back to level new support with proper footings were put in place. It's noticeably more sturdy and safe now.. providing some peace of mind.

Rock Wall Improvements, part 1 of 2.

There's a small rock wall around a section of the loop on the driveway that I've been wanting to improve for years. It's mostly hidden by weeds and just not that visible. Along with making the wall larger, I wanted to widen the driveway and remove a dip by adding quite a bit more driveway stone.

I'm always looking forward to these types of outdoor creative projects and using resources from around the property. I've enjoyed some rock-hunting but also saving and highlighting some of the grasses, ferns and raspberry bushes near the existing wall.

The NYS burn ban starts Saturday so I'm also squeezing in a couple fires to clean up this section of woods and take care of any remnants of the oak that I can't use.

I harvested a cherry that was knocked down in a storm this past summer. I got a load full and probably another 4 or 5 big rounds (8-10') remaining. There were another two bigger pines that were hovering on top of me while I worked but they weren't at all hung up on the cherry.. and the situation tested to be quite sturdy. I was in & out in about an hour. 😀🪵🌲🪓💪
