Our Saturday event here at the Inn was an amazing time for us. We had 11 military guests who had served in the Army, Navy and Air Force during the Korean War, Viet Nam and Iraq. They enjoyed many gifts provided to us by Nappanee businesses and individuals, and Nappanee's Second Saturday events and evening holiday parade. Many thanks to several area B&Bs who also particiated in offering guest rooms to our military.

We are so proud to be a part of B&Bs for Vets, which is a National program to honor these men and women. On Saturday November 12th we are offering all our rooms free of charge to our military guests. We have 5 couples staying with us. We have asked them to bring a photo of themselves in uniform. We have been blessed with the generousity of many Nappanee merchants who know what we are doing and have provided us with gift items and certificates to present to them when our guests arrive. We look forward to meeting all of them!!

It's hard to believe that schools are going to be starting throughout Northern Indiana! The first home football game for Notre Dame is Labor Day weekend....along with Plymouth Indiana's Annual Blueberry Festival. It will be a great time to enjoy cooler weather, lots of great food, crafts and entertainment. Go Irish!!

The town of Nappanee is gearing up for one of the best Arts and Crafts Festivals right in our own town, held annually at Amish Acres. Are you a part of the festiviities? Are you a crafter or a shopper? Nappanee is the place to be next week, August 4-7.

"Stay on Route 6" is the theme of writer Malerie Yolen-Cohen latest writing venture. Heading from the east coast in Connecticut, she is making her way West and doing so by driving US 6, The Grand Army Highway. She stayed with us last week as she enjoyed many US 6 venues including the Coppes Commons, Amish Acres and a stop at The Round Barn Theater. It's official...the Holiday Season has begun in Nappanee. The Second Saturday festivities brought hundreds of people to Nappanee to enjoy the shoppes, pretzel making and a complimentary movie at the Nappanee Theater. A Historic Homes House Tour from 5-7 pm, complete with luminaries delighted everyone...we were part of the tour and really enjoyed meeting almost 200 visitors that came through our doors. An evening parade and laser light show completed the kick off.

This week lets not forget all our "Heroes" who served in the Armed Forces to protect us and our country. If you know a Veteran, remember to thank them....especially this week...for the acts of courage and sacrifice they gave. I think a simple "Thank you" and a hug or a handshake says alot. Blessings!!
