Ricky Mason, who will become chair of Scouting America's National Executive Board at the upcoming National Meeting in Texas, visited the Ten Mile River Scout Museum on March 15th. Mr. Mason was keynote speaker at the Northeast Region, Jewish Committee on Scouting Conference, held at Headquarters Camp, TMR the same day. Mr. Mason was presented with a copy of the exhibit on Jewish Scouting memorabilia guidebook by Phil Sternberg, President of the National Jewish Committee on Scouting. Mr. Mason was very impressed with the Museum and I hope that he enjoyed his visit.

TMR will host two major events sponsored by the National Jewish Committee on Scouting in 2026: Northeast Region Conference (March 15th); NJCOS 100th Anniversary Campout (Aug. 9-12). Both are being promoted nationwide and will bring many to TMR for the first time. NE Region Chairman Barry Hantman mentioned both at his recent webinar. (See video.) The TMR Scout Museum will have a major exhibit of Jewish Scouting memorabilia.

Two views of the extensive Museum landscaping improvements with the french drain installed and the trenches filled with gravel (Day 5). Left: Looking towards the camp road (south) with the rear of the Cayuga/Kotohke Cabin on the left. Right: Looking towards the Kunatah Trading Post (north). I believe that all that remains to be done is adding some grass seed and hay. Thanks to Bob Chiusano and James Gallo for these photos and to Bob for spearheading the entire landscaping project. With this landscaping completed we have effectively doubled the amount of ground space the Museum has available to run programs. Note the extensive clearing and leveling of what used to be uneven debris-filled ground west of the Museum. These newly-improved grounds will eventually resemble the Museum's picnic area in appearance.

Contractor work has begun at the Ten Mile River Scout Museum to solve our longstanding drainage problem between the Museum and the former Camp Kunatah Trading Post. This involves digging a series of trenches and inserting perforated pipes surrounded by gravel to direct water off-site (French Drain). The entire section west of the Museum is being cleared of debris and flattened. This is a requirement before improvements begin on converting the former Camp Kunatah Trading Post to the Hal Rosenfeld Annex.
