You don't drive into downtown Nashville when you stay in Suite 1. You just open the door, and you're already there. This little apartment sits above the shops, once home to the artist Fred Rigley back in the late 1800s, and it still carries that lived-in, well-loved feeling. A king bed to sink into, a Keurig going in the morning, and a private deck out back where you can watch the town wake up with your coffee in hand. One guest put it simply: "Definitely was close to everything, never moved my car." Bring the dog along if you want, there's a small pet fee and we'll take care of the rest. Charley's Cabin has a story behind it. Built by hand between 1987 and 1990 by a man named Charlie Fox, who cut the logs himself to recreate the childhood home he grew up in, right on the site of an old blacksmith shop. That history is still all through the cabin today.

It's small, two bedrooms, room for four, but it doesn't feel small once you're soaking in the hot tub or sitting around the fire pit with the dog stretched out at your feet. Yes, the dog. Charley's is pet-friendly, and the yard gives them plenty of room to run.

Fifteen minutes from downtown Nashville, close enough to the State Park for an afternoon hike before you come home to the fire.
