I had a date with Music,
but Memories came along.

They never got an invite,
but we danced to every song.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the death of Ben Jones, known to Dukes of Hazzard fans everywhere as "Crazy Cooter" Davenport. Ben Jones passed away at his home in Virginia today, on Aug 9, 2026.

According to his wife, Alma, Ben had a massive heart attack while sitting in his favorite chair, waiting for the Braves game to start.

Ben Jones spent decades entertaining and meeting Dukes fans from all over the world, putting on events big and small. His Cooter's Place locations gave fans a home away from home. But most of all, Ben gave his heart. He talked to fans like they were old friends. He was geniune.

It isn't possible for anyone, other than Alma, to really understand just how much time Ben gave to other people without expecting anything in return. There will never be another Ben Jones.

"Crazy Cooter" Davenport will live forever on The Dukes of Hazzard.

We love you, Ben. And we love you, Alma. We share your heartbreak.

We recently had a two-week guest in Nashville that coincided with the snowstorm in January 2026, during which we saw news reports indicating around 230,000 people had lost power. Due to our location just one block away from the substation, we were fortunate enough to experience a less than 24-hour outage. Many of our neighboring communities have not been as lucky, with some still waiting for power after nine days. This situation has showed off Donelson's spirit, as residents have come forward to offer shelter to those in need. For lifelong Tennessee residents, the extreme weather has been hard to handle. We feel fortunate to be a part of the Nashville Donelson community.
