High ceilings, heart pine floors and five fireplaces showcase exquisite mid 19th century antiques and European cut crystal chandlers. Two comfortable parlors provide books, newspapers, magazines, videos and complimentary refreshments. The quiet guest bedrooms and private Guest House offer queen-sized mahogany and rosewood Full Tester, silk brocade drapes, tapestry chairs, and most every luxurious amenity desired. The multi-course candlelight breakfast in the formal dining room is truly a feast for the senses. Did you know that back in the summer of 1988, while filming the classic, Steel Magnolias, right here in Natchitoches, Dolly Parton had a go-to dinner spot? 🎥

Every single night, Dolly (who played the unforgettable Truvy Jones) and her crew would head over to Mariner’s Lakefront Restaurant on Sibley Lake.

According to the restaurant’s owner at the time, Don Nichols, Dolly would cause quite a stir:

PACKED HOUSES - The restaurant sold out completely every night and locals and fans flocked to the dining room just catch a glimpse of her in the back room.

IMPROMPTU SHOWS - Dolly didn’t hide away - she frequently hung out in the bar area (Cove) chatted with everyone and even gave impromptu performances (like singing right into her b**r bottle).

TRUE SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY - She full embraced the community, even training with local beauticians to perfect her role.

Decades later, Mariner’s is still a local treasure. Next time you visit us come and sit at the legendary table 13 and remember you’re sitting in a piece of Hollywood - and country music history!
