Camp Eastman - Mississippi Valley Council, BSA Situated atop a bluff overlooking the Mighty Mississippi River, Camp Eastman provides an ideal setting for Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts.

Camp Eastman is located just off IL 96 (The River Road) 7.5 miles south of Nauvoo, IL or 5.5 miles north of Hamilton, IL. It is the property of the Mississippi Valley Council. Situated on the Mighty Mississippi, Camp Eastman provides an ideal setting for boys of all ages. Here you'll find a quiet creek ideal for lessons in the use of a variety of small boats. From the safe harbor, just under the h

ighway bridge, the more accomplished and daring Scouts have access to the raging Father of Waters in which to really test their skills. Along with the recreation and wildlife opportunities that only the Mississippi brings, there are other environments that appeal to anyone wishing to study wetlands, aquatic, hardwood forests and river bluff habitats. You will find that the 11 campsites are within a few minutes of all the program activities including the trading post and dining hall. One of the major attractions at Eastman is the huge swimming pool. It is well maintained and provides a safe area to learn swimming and lifesaving skills. Camp Eastman is proven by design and tradition to be an ideal place for young people to learn the skills needed for leadership and good citizenship as they grow into contributing members of our society.

Are you coming to ScoutsBSA summer camp in July? If so, you won’t want to miss next week’s Roundtable!

Andrew and Orinda will be showcasing CouncilWare, our new registration system for summer camp and events going live this month.

The early bird deadline for summer camp is Monday, April 20th and the registration will go live on the 22nd.

Join us in person or online next Wednesday, April 25 at 7:00 PM as we dive headfirst into our new event registration system. Andrew and Orinda will devote the entire Roundtable to walking through how to register for events and answering questions, helping everyone get ready for the launch on April 22.

Every Scout deserves a trained leader.
Now is your chance to get trained.
Join us April 18–19 at Camp Eastman for BALOO and IOLS training and build the skills needed to lead great outdoor adventures.

BALOO prepares Cub Scout leaders for overnight outings, and IOLS gives Scouts BSA leaders hands-on outdoor skills they can teach with confidence.

Join us April 18 through April 19 at Camp Eastman for BALOO and IOLS training and take your Scouting skills to the next level.

BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) gives leaders the tools and confidence to plan and lead pack and den overnight adventures. Every Cub Scout pack must have at least one BALOO-trained adult present for overnight outdoor activities.

IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills) is a hands-on, outdoor-focused training designed for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and other adult leaders. You will learn the skills needed to teach Scouts camping, cooking, knots, navigation, and more throughout their Scouting journey.
