Need an easy Highway 98 stop to add to your Navarre Beach trip plan?

When you stay at Navarre Beach Camping Resort, Navarre Parkway (Highway 98) is the main corridor that connects you to the beach, Gulf Breeze, and everyday local life here—small businesses, neighborhoods, and the route many military families and commuters use coming from the Hurlburt Field area.

One convenient option right on that stretch: Taqueria Al Chile (Google Maps 4.8)

At Navarre Beach Camping Resort, the 300‑ft lighted fishing pier on the calm Santa Rosa Sound makes it easy to build into your day—sunrise coffee, sunset strolls, and relaxed time over the water without leaving the resort.

Right nearby, the raised private beach gives you that quieter Sound-side shoreline feel for wading and unwinding.

Traveling with a dog? Good news: pets are welcome to walk on the pier (just note pets aren’t allowed on the raised beach).

Sunrise coffee or sunset stroll—what’s your pier-time pick?

Did you know one decision in 1971 helped keep parts of Santa Rosa Island looking almost the same as they did a century ago?

That year, Gulf Islands National Seashore was created—linking barrier islands and coastal sites across Florida and Mississippi into one of the largest national seashores in the U.S., stretching roughly 160 miles. On Santa Rosa Island, it drew a lasting line in the sand: lively, developed beach communities on one side… and long, protected shoreline on the other.

Near Pensacola Beach, places like Fort Pickens became an anchor for the Seashore, safeguarding dunes, marshes, maritime forest, historic structures, and wide reaches of dune-backed beach that are meant to stay undeveloped. Closer to home, portions near Navarre Beach fall within these protected lands too—preserving the pristine, open-coast scenery that makes this area feel so naturally “Florida.”

It’s one of the coolest things about visiting this barrier island: in a short drive, you can go from bustling beach life to quiet stretches of sand where there’s nothing but sea oats, shorebirds, and the Gulf.

Need a beach-day break that still feels like Navarre? Meet Sweet Pea—Navarre Beach’s beloved green sea turtle ambassador.

Just steps from the sand, the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center is a small, mission-driven nonprofit where kids and adults can get an up-close look at sea turtle conservation and the Gulf Coast marine ecosystem—without the “big aquarium” feel. You’ll learn how nesting season works, what to watch for on the shoreline, and how everyday things like plastic, discarded fishing line, and artificial lighting can impact turtles.

Perfect for the hottest part of the day: it’s indoors and air-conditioned, with free parking, restrooms, Wi‑Fi, and family-friendly admission (kids under three are free).

If you’re staying at Navarre Beach Camping Resort, save this for your trip—Sweet Pea is a must-see on a sunny mid-day break.

Want a quieter, more natural beach day on Navarre Beach? Navarre Beach Marine Park (4.8⭐) sits on the east end of Santa Rosa Island—where you can choose Gulf waves or the calmer Santa Rosa Sound in one spot.

Snorkel tip: the Gulf-side artificial reef is right off 8739 Gulf Blvd and sits about 340 feet offshore (just beyond the second sandbar). You can park by the Sea Oat Pavilion, cross the dune boardwalk, then swim or kayak out—no boat or tour needed. Rinse off after at the shower stations.

Newer to snorkeling or traveling with kids? Try the Sound-side reefs for shallower water and gentler conditions. All reef sites are open sunrise to sunset and designed as living outdoor classrooms—keep it respectful, look closely, and leave no trace.

Make it an easy day trip during your stay at Navarre Beach Camping Resort—then come back to the Resort for a breezy, laid-back evening by the water.

Save this for your next Navarre Beach Camping Resort stay—would you snorkel the Gulf reef or explore the Sound side first?

Need an easy way to enjoy the water without leaving the resort? Walk out on our 300‑ft lighted pier on the Santa Rosa Sound—just steps from RV sites and cabins.

It’s perfect for sunrise coffee, a breezy mid-day reset, or a sunset stroll under the lights. And when you’re ready to switch it up, you’re close to the private Sound-side raised beach, the heated pool, and the 18+ hot tub—so you can go from pier time to swim time and back again.

Traveling with a pup? Pets can’t go on the raised beach, but they’re welcome to join you on the pier.

Are you a sunrise coffee person or a sunset stroll person on the pier?

Need a break from the beach that still feels 100% Emerald Coast? Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge (4.8★) is a hidden gem in Navarre—and it’s a working wildlife hospital that helps injured, sick, and orphaned native Florida animals get back where they belong: the wild.

You can explore the Education Center at your own pace, meet a few permanent “ambassador” animals up close, and learn how habitat loss, vehicle strikes, and entanglement impact wildlife here on the Gulf Coast. They also respond to marine mammal strandings along our coastline, helping dolphins, sea turtles, and more.

Easy add-on during your Navarre Beach Camping Resort stay:
Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge | 3051 Cloptons Cir, Navarre, FL 32566 | (850) 684-1485

Which ambassador animal would your crew want to meet first—fox, turtle, or snake? Tell us, then add ECWR to your Navarre Beach Camping Resort itinerary.
