Despite the fact that Punxsutawney Phil, the "national" groundhog, saw his shadow and thereby predicted 6 more weeks of winter, we here in Florida have enjoyed several days of much warmer, nicer weather. Our local equivalent, Pinnelope, an African four-toed hedgehog, exhibited "clear eyes, low body fat and high levels of activity on February 2, all signs that Spring is on the way," writes the Florida Times Union. "Pinnelope has never, ever been wrong at forecasting the weather," claims Tony Vecchio, executive director of the Jacksonville Zoo."
