🎨 A new mural is coming to Barton Street in Downtown New Buffalo —and it's telling a story that has shaped New Buffalo for nearly 200 years.

Inspired by the 1834 storm that helped spark the founding of New Buffalo, the mural will tell one of the area's earliest stories in a new way—through art that can be experienced by everyone who passes through town.

What makes this project especially meaningful is the collaboration behind it. Led by Chicago-based muralist Cheri Lee Charlton and commissioned through a partnership between Lubeznik Center for the Arts and The Neighborhood Hotel New Buffalo, the mural celebrates the people, history, and stories that continue to shape this community.

We have two community painting days scheduled for June 4 and June 11 from 11 AM–5 PM. Residents, visitors, and anyone who wants to contribute to a piece of downtown New Buffalo public art are welcome to join. No experience necessary!
