28 years ago, Sharon Lovett Graff, Diane Pacl, and I created the first ever Westville Village Annual ArtWalk Festival. The weather deities have smiled ad given us a perfect day to celebrate community, creativity, and possibility. I hope that you can make it over to make or buy art, Mother's Day gifts, or just enjoy the offerings of our fabulous small-town neighborhood in New Haven. Bobbi Wilson, 9, took it upon herself to start a one-girl extermination campaign to hunt for the invasive spotted lanternflies that were ravaging her New Jersey neighborhood last summer. A neighbor reported her to the police, reflecting the larger dialogue on racial profiling and the treatment of Black children across the U.S. Wilson's efforts to eradicate the bugs has been widely praised, landing her collection in the archives of the Yale Peabody Museum. It is Yale commencement weekend and our guests hail from Washington State, California, Georgia, and New York. They have breakfasted and shared stories of their kids' doings, hiked the West Rock Ridge to the historic Judges Cave, and enjoyed the culinary pleasures of New Haven while trying to keep up with their graduates.

Spring is finally spring at Austin Street Inn. The bulbs are up and we are enjoying the swaying blanket of white and purple crocuses carpeting our landscape for a bit before we mow the lawn.

The weather held for Yale commencement and the rains have now arrived to give the gardens a much welcome soaking. Irises are about to bloom and everything feels refreshed. Welcome to the Austin Street Inn in spring!
