We are saddened to have to say that there are no future plans for a Powwow at the Hannibal locks.
The Monroe Powwow committee has been unable to gain any new committee members or the necessary funds needed to host the event. For years we tried to keep the Native culture active and visible in this area but are simply unable to continue to do so. We are truly sorry and will miss all of the friends that came out to see us each year.
There are still a few Powwows and Native gatherings that are going on in other areas, and we encourage you to look for them and plan to attend. There are also many other events that will be happening in the area and we hope that those groups will realize more support and participation as time goes on.
Again, we are saddened to be closing the Powwow committee but we want everyone to find ways to learn about and experience the Native Culture and make good memories with your friends and family.

It has come to our attention that a scammer is trying to collect vendor fees for an event that they claim to have planned. They are not part of our committee, they do not represent us on any way, and they do not have an event planned at the locks. If anyone gets a message or email claiming to be from us, it is a scam. All correspondence will come from one of the committee members that you all know. We don't have any online payment options and would never ask for that.
Do not trust any post, page or email if it is not from Jennifer and clearly identified as such. Feel free to message me if you have been contacted or have any questions in regards to this matter.
It's bad enough that we've had to cancel to Powwow, but we have to deal with these scammers too.

We want to thank everyone who stopped by and supported the powwow this weekend. We made a little for the powwow.
It won't be long till we'll be setting up for the powwow and vendors and dancers will be rolling in. We can hardly wait to see all of our friends.
