American Cancer Society Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge New Orleans American Cancer Society Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge New Orleans provides a free home away from home for cancer patients.

Now welcoming patients ages 12+, and a patient may stay with their child and caregiver, keeping families together during treatment. At the Hope Lodge, we understand that undergoing treatment for cancer can be both financially and emotionally overwhelming. For many, treatment at New Orleans medical centers provides the greatest hope, but requires that they are far from home, adding the additional b

urden of travel and lodging expenses. That is why the American Cancer Society's Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge offers lodging at no cost for adult cancer patients being treated in the New Orleans area. "We live over 100 miles away and there was no way we could have afforded my treatments, plus hotel, gas, and food expenses. My wife and I made it through this battle because Hope Lodge and the American Cancer Society were there for me."
- A cancer survivor

Facing cancer is hard. Having to travel out of town for treatment can make it even harder. Yet the American Cancer Society has a place where cancer patients and their families can find help and hope when home is far away - an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. Each Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their families a free, temporary place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows Hope Lodge guests to focus on the most important thing: getting well. And a Hope Lodge offers so much more than just free lodging. It provides a nurturing, home-like environment where patients and caregivers can retreat to private rooms or connect with others who are going through many of the same experiences.

We were honored to welcome students from Terrebonne High School during their Relay For Life visit to Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge New Orleans! 💜

Our guests and caregivers enjoyed a meaningful afternoon filled with connection, community, and care. The students toured the lodge, spent time engaging with our guests, and generously provided food for everyone to enjoy.

As part of our EMPOWER Program, the Terrebonne team led a creative activity where they designed and created uplifting artwork for our guests—sharing messages of hope, strength, and encouragement throughout the lodge. From “Hope Lives Here” to “Go Tigers!”, each piece brought smiles and positivity to our community.

Moments like these remind us that hope is stronger when we come together. Thank you, Terrebonne High School, for your compassion, leadership, and for making a lasting impact on our Hope Lodge family.

April marked 20 years of hope at Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge in New Orleans.

For two decades, this lodge has been more than a place to stay—it has been a community rooted in compassion, resilience, and unwavering support. The many guests, caregivers, and volunteers who have walked through these doors are the true heart of this journey.

We extend our deepest gratitude to those who have poured into this mission—Matt’s Crew, St. Martin, Jani-King, River Market, and Anne for the beautiful butterflies that symbolize hope and renewal.

A special thank you to the Houma Civitan Club for sponsoring our Butterfly Release and helping create such a meaningful moment for our guests and caregivers.

It is the smiles, the service, and the shared moments that have defined these 20 years—and will continue to carry this legacy forward.

Here’s to 20 years of hope… and many more lives to be touched.
